Hello I am using S120 Linear motor(PM 240-2, 6SL3210-1PE21-4AL0, 380V, Acceleration 9000 mm/s^2). I measured DC link voltage to decide whether I need Braking Resistor. The DC link voltage was constantly 710V. So I think it would be okay. But after I run the machine for an hour(no material, dry run) crash happened. And F3002 Overvoltage showed in the screen. So I need to install braking resistor to solve this issue. But I wonder how and why the DC link voltage exceed 820V suddenly. I guess it might be accumulated in capacitor but not sure. Hello, I’ve never heard from an accumulation of the DC-Link voltage as long as acceleration and deceleration alternate because there is always taken more energy from the DC-Link than is fed back. The only possibilities to rise the DC-Link voltage in a unchanged mechanical system are to increase the velocity (E_mech = ½ * m * v²) or to reduce the power losses in the motor (E_loss =I² * R * t) during deceleration. Therefore, I have the following questions.
