S5 100U CPU 102 problem

lala7 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	The battery of the PLC was replaced whan the power was off. Although we could reload the program from EPROM the the cyclic execution gets much slower. How can I modify the scan time of the system?

RPvM Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	Hi, The CPU S5-102U is a bit of a special one... ACPU 102 has 2 different modes: "Test Mode" and "Normal Mode" Probably the CPU is now in "Test Mode" which is much slower but leaves more possiblities for monitoring/debugging. It's all decribed very well in the manual which you can find here: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1091978 Read Chapter 4 and also See page 7-21 for more understanding In Short: To get to "Normal Mode" you need to have the program on Eprom. Procedure (from the Manual): 1. Reset the PLC 2. Turn off the PLC 3. Plug in memory submodule 4. Turn on the PLC - Red LED flickers when program loaded Resetting the PLC can also be doneby simply deconnecting powersupply and remove the battery for a while (1 to 2 minutes) Regards, Ronald

lala7 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	I've tried it. I fmy understanding is correct pushing the cpu button in "copy" position durin gpower up put the PLC in test mode. But if I do not do it the red LED is on all the time but no pogram loaded into PLC

Navnag Platinum Expert Joined: 11/21/2007 Last visit: 9/25/2024 Posts: 2325 Rating: (308)	Hi The Correct Procedure would be ( See Page 76 of the Manual ) : a) Switch off the CPU Power b) Remove the CPU Battery c) Plug in the EPROM d) Keep the Run/Stop Switch in RUN position c) Switch on the CPU Power. d) TheRED Stop LED FLickers for some Time then CPU Goes to Run Mode ( Green LED ) The CPU is now in normal Mode Cheers Navnag
