S5 software problem when opening a project

novice_jp Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi, I havesome problems with Simatic S5 software when i´m trying to open a projekt (doesn´t matter which projekt i´m trying to open). error message " You use SCP functions without open a logical device" My second problem is when I open Simatic S5 the error message "L4DRIVER name does not exist in registry" Please look at the files below, Itook a copy of the error messages Simatic S5 V. 7.2 Attachment S5 MJUKVARU LARM1.zip (587 Downloads)

Bilal Moolla Posts: 133 Rating: (9)	Hi Novice Titas is correct. The file S5_VDD.DLL is a registry file that runs in the background when S5 is running. It seems like this file is corrupt or does not exist on your machine. Please try to re install Step 5. Good luck.

Also decided that it is an incompatibility with Windows XP and installed Step5 under DOS in VMware workstation. In DOS all worked OK. Then I decided to try it once again under Windows, and voila! - it works. I didn't take the trouble to figure out what exactly was the reason, but it must be one of the following: 1. Edit autoexec.bat according to the docs (\STEP5\S5_INFO\README.WRI): SET PATH=C:\STEP5\S5_HOME; C:\STEP5\S5_SYS\ SET S5_HOME=C:\STEP5\S5_HOME SET S5_SYSTEM= C:\STEP5\S5_SYS SET S5_DATEN= c:\STEP5\S5_DATEN 2. Reboot.
