Dear All, I have S5 PLC(95u)which is communicating with a third party HMI device over AS511 protocol.Due to the high price of that HMI device and inventory costs I want to shift to a PC based HMI solution. The basic problem that I am facing at the moment is to figure out a way to communicate S5 to a PC. What is the easiest way to do this? -Is there any interface card available that can be used on the PCs for this purpose? -I have Siemens latest PG with Windows XP installed on it. I was wondering if I can use the PG interface port i.e. MPI/DP or AG port to communicate with the S5 PLC? Is it possible? If I could do this I would be able to build an HMI on WinCC v5.0 which I came to know can establish communication with S5 PLCs. Another thing. I came across this device over the internet. The link http://www.softing.com/home/en/indus.../s5-pclink.php This device connects to the 15 pin connector on the S5 PLCs and then one can communicate over the ethernet. -Is this a doable option? Need help... Thanks & Regards, SMA |
