Duris_I Diamond Expert Joined: 4/28/2015 Last visit: 11/16/2024 Posts: 10614 Rating: (828)	Hello, very sry, this kind of STATUS can have more reasons and in your case (sry if I say you just new to this) is then hard to find. What most reason can be in my opinion is that maybe you're try: 1. use locally some port which is already used or not closed correctly. 2. to connect to remote port which is occupaied by other app. This can be maybe situation that you're running on PC Client that is connected to your Server app via this port. In also this time you're try connect to this port also from your PLC. This is simply not possible. I think that also this situation can be your problem, hope. Pls be kind understand how TCP connections working, simply if you want connect to server app which is on PC with its IP and Port opened (f.ex. Port 2000) you must aware of another device is connected to this port value because then you have not luck with connection. I just try describe this very generally because in other situations like PC programming are more possibilities.

DS_7 Bronze Member Joined: 11/12/2017 Last visit: 2/27/2024 Posts: 174 Rating: (1)	I mentioned before that in the TSEND_C block parameters where I enter the IP address of the unspecified remote device (PC in my case), the box appears red and says invalid IP address. However if I enter an IP address beginning with 192.168.XX.XX for example, it accepts this address. But my target IP address for the unspecified PC is 172.XX.XX.XX, but it says this is an invalid address, but this is the correct IP address of the PC. Can this IP address not be used? Sorry again, forgive my lack of knowledge on this subject!

In this case i recommend set inside PLC IP and Subnet mask depended to your PC running SW and then you can work finally with that, check PC Network Properties with IPV4 option inside your ETH card. Update: here is link to Microsoft info about IP and Subnet Mask (external Microsoft page): TCP/IP and Subnet Mask theory Also Siemens description of problematic is expected : TCP/IP addressing and Subnet Mask basics

I have only created a data block with the remote device IP address and port number. I mean when you want create DB you have there inside Listbox also some structures f.ex. TCON param. This is that <Template> which create exact conection DB with structure what you need/can use for specific connection. In TIAv13 I have f.ex. this option available f.ex.

You were right in the end, it turned out I had to use the network gateway (router) to access the other subnet mask. This works very well now except that when I send integer values, they become corrupt when received on the other end. However when I send characters or strings, the data received is perfect. So I will stick with strings Thanks once again! * I would recommend this SocketTest TCP testing software for anyone trying to do something similar as it seems to work well and is easy to use.
