s7-1200 LMQTT AWS

Hi,

I'm struggling to connect to AWS and I think that some help will be needed.

I have downloaded the sample project from Siemens and followed the manual but I fail to connect to the AWS. 

I can ping my endpoint in cmd and from there I have also gotten the DNS adress, I think this is correct.
I have added the DNS adress to the PLC
I have specified the router 192.168.1.1 - PLC is 192.168.1.12
I have imported the certificates to the PLC - at least what I think is right - however I don't think that I have even gotten to the stage where the certificates are used in the connection.

When I try to connect with QDN I get error 809B - 

The element InterfaceId within the TCON_xxx structure does not reference a hardware identifier of a CPU or CM/CP interface or has the value "0".

When I try with IP adress (I think it's the correct one, I got it from the cmd and is the same as the DNS?) I get error 80C4

Temporary communication error:

• The connection cannot be established at this time.

• The connection cannot be established because the firewalls on the connection path are not open for the required ports.

• The interface is currently receiving new parameters.

• The configured connection is currently being removed by a "TDISCON" instruction

The remote partner has terminated the connection.

Error during the flag "keepAlive" No response from the server after the KeepAlive was triggered.

I have also tried with both port 8883 and 443

I'm kind of out of options :)

• Which Hardware and Firmware? S7-1200 needs V4.3
• AWS is is correct parameterized? There is an example with CC712/CC716 and AWS with the correct settings inside AWS (Or another one with WinCC and AWS)
• Which TIA Version? TIA V16 is recommended

1. I didn't know I had to do something in the router, I will look into this.

3. As to the best of my knowledge, I have followed a guide. Will look into that guide also to see if I get any idea. I have connected with a eWon flexy with no problem but the s7-1200 demands more settings to be able to work. The eWon is pretty straight forward

Sometimes the Router blocks applications or some connections, to be sure there is all okay you need to check it ;). Forwarding the Port 8883 to the PLC is the safest way. 

The rest should be ok.

The easiest way is to use CC712/CC716 (CloudConnect Devices) or a S7-1500 with the CP 1545-1. There is MQTT implemented.

Never done this so bare with me, forwarding port 8883 to my PLC 192.168.1.12 IP adress correct?

Also, the connectionID is set to 16#0010, I can't find that connections in the hardware configuration. Is this OK?

Yes, it is easier as I know from using the eWon. We wan't to try both solutions to find appropriate solution for us. Also if I use the cloudconnect devices I also need a seperate 4G modem when we do that solutions and the cost is going up. Same with s7-1500, price goes up. eWon has both MQTT, 4G and VPN connection. Feel free to suggest Siemens products for the same application and I will look into it.

However I can't connect with my QDN, since AWS changes the IP adress often I would need to use QDN. I get 809B error , I have configured 8.8.8.8 as DNS server. Suggestions?

I am trying the FTP communication with S7 1200 using FTP SERVER address as URL address. So here we are using TCON_QDN data type for TCON block. Here also we are getting 809B error. 

Any suggestion ?

The FTP-Application for S7-1200 will not work with QDN! Maybe if you change the block for your own...
It is only possible with S7-1500 and CP 1543-1 as FTP-Client.

Technically can you please explain why it is not possible ? In the shared application example, it is given with "TCON_IP_V4" data type. I have modified it to "TCON_QDN" and inside the FTP-FB wherever the error shows its updated with new TCON_QDN parameter. Now at least for the compile, there is no error. 

So kindly share your thoughts why it cant work ?

The application example is programmed by Siemens without using QDN.
Maybe it works maybe not, they did no testing, so they will not support you...

Just try it ;)
