s7-1200 sensor - not getting anything on the terminals of the output module

Posts: 45 Rating: (0)	i m doing a programon tension monitoring system of a ship, My program is to measure the value from loadcell and give this measurement to other system, like alarm monitoring system and dynamic positioning system, For that from the load cell i m taking a 4-20 ma input to plc via analog input module. and i m giving this measurement to alarm monitoring system and dp system via analog output module. since our panel not installed on the vessel we are checking here by injecting 4-20mA to the analog input module and measuring the ma at analog output module terminals i.e on channel 1 and chanel 2, my analog input module is 4 channel sm1231 and analog output module is sm1232 4 channel, plc is s7 1200. on my program i had wriiten suitable logic for this, but the problem is i mnot getting any current on the terminals i.e on channel 1 and channel 2. so i made a change in the programmining, i moved a value of 12000 using move instruction to sm1232 channel 1 and channel 2. in the hope that i will get some ma at the terminals, i didnt get anything, after that i moved 16000 i check the terminals at the output module its tightened. i m trying to measure the ma with a multimeter i.e by connecting the probes ofmultimeter on the terminals i made a check by inerchanging the probes too, but in vain nothin coming 0ma only. i know the current to be measured in series, i m doing also the same i m connecting the probes to the terminals. is it necessary to give some load and den check the multimeter wconnecting in series, i dont think so. in my knowledge a ma should come at terminals and i can measure it, i had unchecked all the diagnostics, and on the diagnostics page its ok fine no errors nothing. wat will be the problem cant understand.

0_Einstein Diamond Expert Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 11/15/2024 Posts: 15402 Rating: (2446)	Antony, can you post a screenshot of your hardware configuration for your analog output module while you are offline with the plc? Here are some assumptions I've made as to what you already have done: 1. Set your analog output to 0..20mA or 4..20mA as required and available with your hardware 2. Compiled and downloaded the hardware changes and settings to the plc 3. Restarted the plc after the download of the hardware. 4. While online in a watch table set up a tag that you can set that then moves whatever you type into the analog output, and that your watch table is monitoring your analog outputs 5. Your analog output module has proper power and common applied (to L+ and M) and that the voltage is within specification and your common is bonded to earth/ship ground. All assumptions made, to me, it might make sense to take a step back and temporarily set your analog outputs to voltage, 0-10V or +/-10V. Then you can simply measure the voltage and get your program control working properly to copy analog signals from the analog input and working to your analog output. Once that works, switch back to mA outputs knowing your logic is correct and working as required. Of course, you disconnect the field devices from the analog outputs during your testing and development processes. If you decide not to switch to voltage output, I may not be able to help further. After switching to voltage output, you can hunt for your voltage signal very easily to see if you are checking the correct terminals. Set one channel to 10V and move the probe between terminals until you measure 10V. That will help you see what terminals are really for your analog signals.

Posts: 45 Rating: (0)	i had created a new program , the analog outputvoltage all the channels to voltage, and checked but stil i m not getting anything, i changed the output module with a new one but still the same, is there anyother setting, can i troublehsoot the module in some way in the program everything shows ok and no error on the diagnostic page , i had also connected a 500 ohm resostor across that but still also nothing, is there any thing on the wiring , i had connect +24v to L and negative to m and earth to earth terminals in the program i m moving a value of 12000 to each othput channels, at the terminals nothing coming. i m very much worried . am using tia portal v11 sp2 some one pls help me on an urgent basis, plsss Attachment TEST.zip (223 Downloads)
