S7-1500 Ethernet Communicate with AB Ethernet

Hi ,

We have a system need both Both AB & Siemens PLC exchange data through Ethernet communication.

Siemens : S7-1500

AB: 1756-L61

Without adding any gateway/converter, would it be work?

It depends what do you mean. If you mean IO comms, then I don't think that AB supports Profinet.

But TCP/UDP (both are called Open User Communication - OUC in case of Siemens) should  work fine.

Yes, it is IO communication.

No, AB dont have Modbus card..It purely Ethernet comm.

both sugestions from jacek and DJ can be solved probably, of existing normal Ethernet port. Question is if AB has Modbus TCP library implemented. Nevermind, user TCP/UDP communication can be probably made without problems. Only important info, implementation must be made on both systems due convention of data to be exchanged.

Siemens S7-1500 can act as either an EtherNet/IP scanner or EtherNet/IP adapter. The first one has been successfully tested the second one not yet.

The data size is limited though to approx. 480 Bytes of data in any direction.
