S7 200 CN with Password?

TheTurk Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hi all! I have a S7-200 CPU 224 CN that is password protected (Level 4). I can connect to the PLC using Step 7 Micro/Win v4.0 SP5 and communicate with it no problem. I also have the password that is on it and I want to enter it to upload the program. However I cannot find where to enter the password. When I click File --> Upload... It just tells me that it is password protected, but there is no dialog to enter the password. Has anybody come across this problem? Any ideas to resolve it? See attached picture for clarification. In any case, do you have the source code for the software? If yes, then reset the PLC by using master password CLEARPLC Password for the access to a password-protected S7-200 does not exist It will erase everything on the CPU and then try again to set the password and feedback us please.

Hello again, I am sorry to tell that it is not allowed to upload the software. Thus because Protection Level 4 does not allow to uploadthe user program, data,and the CPU configuration. Please see the attached two sheets If protection level was set to level 3 or less, it should ask you for a password. You can try it with another CPU. So the solution is to ask the programmer for the application software, and in case you want to modify the software, then you have to clear the PLC. Hope this helps. So once you set it with level 4 protection you can never get the program back? I notice it says I can "Copy data to memory card" with password required. Do you think I could do this and use the memory card to put the data on another PLC? Thanks!

Yes. You can copy it to a memory cartridge and use it with another PLC. So, if you do not want to modify anything and your target is just to take a backup, then it will be a good solution.

Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, if the PW is level 4, concerning the MW help you can never upload OB!, DB or SB. So if you don't have a copy, then you lost. Level 4 PW is like knowhow protection. Hope this helps
