Denisro Posts: 8 Rating: (1)	Hello! We have a problem writing java program to connect to SIMATIC S7-315-2 DP, CP 343-1 LEAN. I had a look at following book (S7Beans / Applets für IT–CPs Ausgabe 06/2003 C79000–G8900–C180–01) and tried example LogfileDemo.java on page (146). I entered following values in form and started logging. Ip = 192.168.76.11 Rack = 0 Slot = 2 Db = 100 Offset = 0 Length = 4 I got following errors. Exception: java.io.IOException: S7PDU: invalid pdu S7PDU: invalid pdu from: S7NetAddress[host=192.168.76.11:80,rack=0,slot=0] Why is the slot number 0 and not 2 in S7DeviceSys. It should be 2. In S7Device the value is 2, which I entered. See log from console for detail. Does anybody know what is wrong? As far as I know the only CPs that allow the storage of Java Applets or Beans on it are the CP 343-1 IT or CP 343-1 Advanced, but surely not the CP 343-1 Lean. Do you try to run the Applets or Beans based upon a PC? Best regards J_Bell

Denisro Posts: 8 Rating: (1)	Hi Bell, I would like to connect from PC to CP 341-1. On PC I would like to run Java Main program (not applet) which connects (reads and writes some values) to CP. Is that possible? In previously mentioned PDF document (S7Beans / Applets für IT–CPs Ausgabe PDF document) I saw that it is possible to write main program which reads from CP. There is an example on page 146 (LogfileDemo.java). Is error occurring because user rights are not set in CP or something else not configured? Best Regards, Denis

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear Denis, I am sorry, you are certainly right but as you also mention by the manual this is only possible with a CP 343-1 IT or CP 343-1 Advanced because only these CPs have an FTP Server to store the required beans on. If you check the Beans and libraries you use you will see that the Jar files need to be stored on the CP the communication takes place with. This is based upon the JAVA Nutshell principle to ensure that only systems allowed to communicate may do so. I am afraid the solution with the SIMATIC NET Beans will not work with your PLC. But I am absolutely sure that there are solutions on the market that offer an JAVA interface to interface with for example SIMATIC NET drivers to collect data from or put data to PLCs. SIMATIC NET would act as transport media and JAVA works as programming interface... language. I am sorry, but as said... the SIMATIC NET Beans will not work the way you want them to use. Denisro Posts: 8 Rating: (1)	Hi Bell, I’ll get IT type CP for test this week. But I think that you don’t have to store beans on CP if you are using main program which is stored locally on PC. I think that main program uses S7Beans to communicate with HTTP server on CP or maybe some other protocol to read and write variables. S7Beans implement this communication protocol between PC and CP. I’m not sure about protocol. Do you know what protocol is used? If you are using applet the communication takes over S7Beans like in the main program. But you have to deploy it over FTP on CP and access it from browser. The applet is then downloaded to your PC and executed (some restriction) locally on PC like main program. Best regards, Denis

The java program tried to connect to something else than my PLC. Hence, this messages meant that there was no connection at all.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, I am sorry but I have to stay with my point. You need all JAR Files and the HTML files on the CP. You will see that you have no function if you load your HTML or JAR files from some other place than the CP. If you receive the CP you will already get a sample, on the CP itself. You will find some pages and Applets already used with the CP. If you monitor the traffic there you will notice that everything is stored and handled by the CP. Best regards J_Bell

Denisro Posts: 8 Rating: (1)	Hi, I got the IT type of CP and wrote Java program which writes and read 4 bytes from CP. The Java program and S7beans are located and excetuted on PC. Java program communicates with CP over network like I wrote before. A question to witchIT. How do you interpret bytes read from CP? I wrote function where I do conversation to Integers and the other way around. Best regards, Denis
