Hunky Posts: 82 Rating: (6)	DEAR ALL, I AM FACING THE PROBLEM WITH S7KAFAPX ERROR. WHENEVER I OPEN THE BLOCK IT IS SHOWING THE ERROR. AND WHEN I TRY TO WRITE THE LOGIC IN LADDER IT IS CLOSING. BUT IF I WRITE IN STL IT IS WORKING FINE. I UNINSTALLED AND INSTALLED MANY TIMES. BUT IT IS GIVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAS GONE THROUGH WITH OTHER FAQ'S & HELPS.BUT I COUDNT MAKE IT. THE SOFTWARE IS S7 V 5.3 WITH SP3.PLEASE HELP ME. THANKS IN ADVACNCE. REGARDS PLC ENGINEER

Workaround: in the supplement you find two Reg-files to enable and disable this function. You have to disable the functionality in order to avoid this behavior. Attachment:XMLCopyPaste.zip

I am attaching the Snapshots of my PC and also the Error generated by Windows.Please help me to solve this problem. Do i need to format the system. Note- Earlier system was working fine. Nur ein Gelegenhe... Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hello All (first ever post by the way), I'm joining you guys on this one... what on earth is going on? For the record, I'm runningStep 7 5.4 SP2, although I don't know that the problem is related to any specific release of Step 7, based on the above posts. I can, however, add to the fray an observation I've made in the past, which guarantees to crash the Ladder Editor, and it is related to how input parameters to functions or function blocks are defined. The attached image explains things best. When setting up the input conditions to a function or function block, if there is only a single coil required as an input, DO NOT configure it as a ladder logic N/O or N/C contact, as per the "SW_AUTO" input in my sample logic attachment. Instead, define it as per the "SW_MAN" input, as you would a numerical data type. Note that more complex input conditions involving ANDing or ORing (asshown bythe "ACK_EF" input example) are ok. If I try to save the block when it looks like the logic on the left in the attached image, the ladder editor crashes with an S7KAFAPX error - well I get the pleasant Microsoft "S7 Program Editor has encountered a problem and needs to be shut down. We are sorry for the inconvenience" message, but when I look at the error details, the culprit is good old s7kafapx.exe. You may find that attempting to view the code in STL form will also bomb the editor... But, if I change my logic to a more complex set of logic conditions, as per the right hand side of my attached example, the ladder editor saves the block without a problem. Here's the interesting bit... If I view the working version of my code (ie. the right hand side image in the attachment with the two M0.2 contacts in series with the "SW_AUTO" input) in STL, then delete the second contact (M0.2 in my example) from the STL view, I can then return to LAD view, see the logic as itlooks on the lefthand side (with one contact only)and save without a problem, close and re-open the block, and it's all ok???? It seems that it's only when you define the single coil input to an FC / FB in LADder format that this problem arises. For my money, I think it's a bug in Step 7 unfortunately, to do with going from LADto STL view and when trying to save a block when the above mentioned single coil FC / FB input is configured. Perhaps this information might help Siemens investigate and resolve the issue? For all of you here that are having ladder editor crashes, take a look at your code to see if you have single contact ladder inputs to functions or function blocks, and see if the above "workaround" helps to eliminate the crashing. I would appreciate any comments or feedback - I've tried to make a contribution to the community with my first forum post! Attachment step7_fb_issue.JPG (831 Downloads)

By the way I get messages of internal errors for all of my projects in the multiproject I am using. Has this got anything to do with it? The message says" The project contains errors inthe internal data structure".
