Denilson Pegaia Platinum Expert Joined: 9/23/2005 Last visit: 3/24/2023 Posts: 4180 Rating: (1332)	Hi, I and a college, Mr. Paiva, mount a little sample program that send RS232 ASCII telegrams to a PC with HyperTerminal from a S7-1200. Follow there is the project, a picture with the HyperTerminal adjusts and the looks like in this software.We use the follow RS 232 cable:2-3; 3-2; 4-6; 6-4; 7-8; 8-7; 5-5 (the V13SP1 version stay on the 6/5/2017 12:38 PM reply of this post) Attachment serial.zip (11901 Downloads)

majki1980 Posts: 21 Rating: (1)	Hello, I did everything as you explained and showed, but my blocks for send SEND_PTP and receive RCV_PTP are not working. SEND_PTP has error code 7000 (The send operation is not active), and RCV_PTP NDR output is 0. Can you please help me? I'm working with TIA v11. Thanks!

majki1980 Posts: 21 Rating: (1)	Hi, Thank you for your fast response! I don't know what do you mean by trigger. I put ALWAYS ONE for RCV block on EN_R input, and 0,5Hz system bit for SEND block on REQ input. Best regards!

satch_jmd Posts: 9 Rating: (1)	Hi, once you have received that character array ["" "1" "2" "3" "4" "e" ""], what do you do to get each single caracter and use it for controlling operations? For example, I receive the next message in a char array: ["T" "=" "2" "3"]. That could mean that a device is telling me that his temperature is 23. But to control the device I need to compare that temperature to the max and min allowed. So how can I extract that 2 and that 3 from the array so that they could be manipulated? Thanks, regards.

So it is natural that interpret and shows telegrams aschars. However, when in low layer, you just exchange "bits". So, if you exchange data by ASCII between PLC, is just a question to place the data in format that you wish.
