Davooo Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hello, I have a problem with FB block for sending UDP packets. It is possible for the SIMATIC S7-1200 to send a UDP packet as a broadcast packet? I used TUSEND, but I not posted nothing. You can do some simple example? Here is my test program. But I do not know why it does not work. Thank you ... Attachment TEST.zip (768 Downloads)

But I do not know why it does not work. Thank you ... What error do you get when you use the tcon command? Does it successfully connect? What error value in the status output of tcon/tusend? What does the status error value mean when you look in the F1- help for the block? I find udp to be very simple to get working once all the right values are entered into the proper fields for the various connection values. The F1-help setting up the connection is essential at working through putting proper values into these tags. I am using udp to send/receive data to/from a pc successfully at anywhere from 30-100 Hz depending on the project complexity.

Get your TCON working, and you are 99% there with udp on s7-1200.

Pittiplatsch Posts: 1368 Rating: (126)	Hello Davoo, the order is: TCON ==> TUSEND (UDP) or TSEND(TCP/ISO) ==> TDISCON The S7-1200 does not support UDP and Broadcast. Therefore, you have to use a S7-300/400 or S7-1500. With this PLCs, you can choose at "connection partner", if you want to use specified, broadcast, multicast or unspecific. Sorry...

I don't understand why there is a need to use TCON, in manual says its used for TCP/IP and ISO on TCP/IP. But then if you look at TUSEND TURCV there is a mention that TCON establishes the communication between client and server (CPU) PC. ??? I think there is a trick, if you look at TCON_Param you will find that many parameters are irrelevant when using UDP protocol, but still you need to configure the connection. Perhaps TCON then only openes a port or does nothing, but it seems to me that you should use it before TUSEND and TURCV, because you will have the proper ID (1 default), that TUSEND and TURCV needs. At that point try to send something and watch on Wireshark. In manual says bradcast is possible: UDP supports broadcast communication. To use broadcast, you must configure the IP address portion of the ADDR configuration. For example: A CPU with an IP address of 192.168.2.10 and seubnet mask of 255.255.255.0 would use a broadcast address of 192.168.2.255. P.S.: Use some screnshoots, don't sendthe code because I don't need all the trash on my PC.

Pittiplatsch Posts: 1368 Rating: (126)	I mean, the S7-1200 does not support Broadcast. UDP is possible. But if you configure the ip address x.x.x.255 with TIA in the field of the connection partners for the T-Blocks, it says "not possible".
