Yes it`s in the TIA portal. You must have theTIA SP2. You will find the block under "Communication->Teleservice" |

Get rid of the TCON command, you don't need it. I don't have it in my code and it is not required. |

Look up just a couple of posts to the one by automatizzando. Follow their link to just near the end and find their posted example. |

What I would like to add to the post is that I tried TM_MAIL few days ago and works ok. - smtp server with 25 port open - 1214 -1hg31- FW 3.0.2 - TM_MAIL v 1.1 - TIA v11 SP2 UP5 P.S. The eWONdevices looks very nice. Is it really so easy to use? Is it the sameas VIPA devices? |

As a Siemens distributor here in the U.S., I probably can't discuss Ewon devices in their forums. All I can say is, YES, they are VERY easy to use, and I have many customers using them to access their Siemens-based systems all around the world. I have no idea if they make them for VIPA or not. Frankly, I was hoping Siemens would simply "buy" Ewon and market them as Siemens products because they work so well with Siemens products via ethernet OR Profibus. ;) I also wish Siemens would some day allow us to modify the Port 25 address. I know somebody stated in this thread that it can be modified, but I don't believe that to be true at all. Good luck! |

Well, I have a running PLC with this mail block sending mail on port 587 to smtp.gmail.com. If you do not believe me, that is too bad.. try it for yourself. Ben

I would love to try this myself. Would you descibe or show exactly where you set the port number to 587? I have looked through every DB and through the manual for Portal and for the CPU and cannot find it. |

Its my belief that he is refering to the TCON command which is not needed for the TM_MAIL per my earlier postings. Not sure how or where that comes into play here, so we will wait for the master to enlighten us. Perhaps he can post a sample code or something. |

There are all the TCON params in the TM_MAIL block.. TCON is not needed because it is built-in.. So you can change it like you can in TCON. |

We have been looking at the EWON units for awhile. Which models have you tried? Have you looked at the any of the GSM versions? Thanks for your help with the email service. Very cool.

We are a distributor of Ewon, so we have actually worked with all of them. The GSM units work very well. You get about 1M throughput on them which is plenty. Ewon and Siemens play VERY well together when you are talking to Profibus OR Profinet devices. Frankly, they also work very well with Rockwell PLC's as well, but who cares about that anyway! ;) |

Correct! And you will not find "25" as a number, because it is stored as a HEX. 25 dec = 19 hex to change it to 587 you need to use two bytes: 587 dec = 24B hex "24" in 1st byte "B" in 2nd byte (TIA will put "0B") You will find this in the "REM_TSAP_ID" in the TCONPAR. From help-file for tcon: 40 … 55 rem_tsap_id ARRAY [1..16] of BYTE - Partner address component of connection TCP: partner port no. (possible values: 1 to 49151; recommended values: 2000...5000); rem_tsap_id[1] = high byte of port no. in hexadecimal notation; rem_tsap_id[2] = low byte of port no. in hexadecimal notation; rem_tsap_id[3-16] = irrelevant I am sorry, if I had the time I would make a example project.

I am sorry, if I had the time I would make a example project. Is not 587 dec = 024B hex Therefore would you notmove "02" into 1st byte and "4B" into 2nd byte? |

Hello, I can´t change the port 25. I use the port 465 in hex 01 D1, I put it in REM_TSAP_ID1 and 2, and when I close I0.0 the REM_TSAP_ID[2] change from D1 to 19. Can you give me a solution for this problem?. Thanks |

The Siemens Manual does say that it can only use Port 25 at the moment, but I had a little play and did manage to get as far as the EHLO message from Gmail on Port 587. It got stuck there but it could be due to the authentication method used by Gmail, maybe my 'fix' will work with your email server. Normally the Port reference only uses the first two bytes REM_TSAP_ID[1] and REM_TSAP_ID[2] however the system always puts B#16#19 in to the second byte, I experimented by using more of the bytes, it still puts B#16#19 in to REM_TSAP_ID[2] but it uses the values in REM_TSAP_ID[3] and REM_TSAP_ID[4], see attached. Good luck and let us know if it works for you. |
Last edited by: BryanG2001 at: 5/19/2013 12:52 PMJust had a play with Gmail using Putty and you get a reply on Port 25, so maybe my system was still on Port 25 and not 587, I would have to fire up Wire Shark to be certain. |

I was thinking that my problem with the e-mail was the port because my server of mail have a different port from 25, but it is not the problem. I have created my own server of mail, have tried with outlook and it works perfectly, when sending the e-mail from the Siemens 1212 appears the following mistake: Requested SMTP connection from 192.168.1.251 16/05/2013 21:25:00 - Error: [10054] Connection reset by peer 16/05/2013 21:25:00 - SMTP connection with 192.168.1.251 ended. ID=13 it is necessary to configure anything more that: ADDR_MAIL_SERVER, WATCH_DOG_TIME, USERNAME, PASSWORD, FROM and TO_S I attach my project, the username is alberto, the password 1234, the IP of the web server 192.168.1.8, PLC IP 192.168.1.251 and the email alberto@localhost.com If anybody find the fault, please contact me. From your description you are looking at logs on the email server to find the fault, you should be looking at the PLC. In the attached you would click on the small green arrow to go on line and monitor the block. Then you can either look at temp status and find the error code in the Siemens Manual. Or you can look at where the smtp conversation between the PLC and Email Server stopped DATEN, buffer1 and buffer2 and look up the smtp error code. http://www.greenend.org.uk/rjk/tech/smtpreplies.html http://www.iana.org/assignments/smtp-enhanced-status-codes/smtp-enhanced-status-codes.xml Web search smtp error codes. If you want to play a bit you can send emails just by using Hyperterminal or a Telnet client like Putty. http://thedaneshproject.com/posts/send-mail-through-smtp-using-telnet/ |

Hola, the problem was in the configuration of the user and password, my server of mail not have authentication SMTP, and in the tia portal had put an user and password. I have contact with Siemens and they tell me that it is not possible to change the port 25, and TM_MAIL don´t run with SSL web mail servidors. Thanks BryanG2001 |

Hi Can i send the Email with the TCP connect or i need GPRS? |

With the TCP connect, no GPRS needed. The only problem can be that the TM_MAIL is fairly simple at the moment and can only use Port 25 and without SSL authentication. Many modern email systems block Port 25 due to spammers. You can get lucky with some email servers that allow you to send to email addresses within a system but not forward emails to other servers, so something like MAIL FROM: <system1@emailserver.com>, RCPT TO: <system1@emailserver.com> will work. Then if you are very lucky the server will let you set a forward list so that emails coming in to that address are automatically forwarded to a fixed list of recipients. |

The IP is almost correct. Last Byte is not 16#13 but 16#E4. If it does not work perhaps first do a test with a standard PC and E-Mail client in the same subnet as the PLC. |
