SFC 82, 83, and 84 Availability

jkur Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Hello, I would like to use SFC 82-84 in order to be able to write data to the flash MC on my 400H system. Are these functions available on a 400 CPU? I see they are listed in the S7-300/400 System And Standard Functions Manual (http://support.automation.siemens.com/US/view/en/1214574) but not in the S7-400 Instruction List (http://support.automation.siemens.com/US/view/en/23904435). If these blocks are unavailable in the 400 CPU OS, then is there any other way to write data to non-volatile memory on a 400H system? Thanks, jkur

These SFCs are neither supported by S7-400 nor S7-400H (Check instruction list of S7-400H). jkur If these blocks are unavailable in the 400 CPU OS, then is there any other way to write data to non-volatile memory on a 400H system? To the best of my knowledge, this is not possible. I hope you don't mind my intrusion, why would you like to write data on memory card of H-CPU?! Best regards. H-H

Hello jkur you can do it via thethe good old fashioned manual way and the two FAQ links below have more on this (and just like H-H I'm not aware of any program driven automatic way to do so): S7-400: Saving the user program to FLASH EPROM when the module is slotted in the CPU How can you write the program to the FLASH Memory Card when using a SIMATIC S7-400 CPU? jkur Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Thanks for the reply H-H and Fritz. The reason I felt I needed to write the data to flash memory was to save a calculation value that is updated at regular intervals. This calculation is made from data from a field sensor. Should this sensor fail for some reason, I would still be able to use the last saved valueuntil the sensor is repaired. I wanted this data to remain in memory if for some reason there was apower shutdown to the PLC prior to repairing the sensor. Perhaps I need to simply rely on the PLC battery backup to do this, is that correct? Is it correct to say that there should never be a problem after a warm restart, since the DB values are not overwritten anyhow? Is there a way to retain the data in a DB even if a cold restart would occur? Is this what the "unlinked" property of the DB would do? Thanks! jkur
