Hello Lucky; I used this manual when I started studying the S7 family of PLCs; it dates back to 1996, but looking at it now still reminds me of very basic techniques on how to look at a process, decompose it in essential structures and functions, and how to attack hardware and programming together to build a complete automation system. It is called : System Software for S7-300 and S7-400 Program Design Programming Manual AttachmentProent_e[1].pdf (1965 Downloads) |

There are some standards about decomposition and design softwares. It depends what kind of process ( discret, continous or batch ) You are interest. Find some information about: ISA S88 and PackML witch is OMAC standard. I attache good but little too general manual about implementing ISA88 for a discret process. If You are interes in general about good programming practise there are good book: What every engineer should know about Software Engineering.
