Solar Position Algorithm for s7-1200

I need to make a solar tracking application ? The PV park is already working and the tracking system must be replaced. There is an AC motor and 1 encoder. Is anybody who has already trying a solar tracking application ? Thank you !

You can download the library from www.oscat.de (site is in German, but library Blocksare documented in English, look for "osact.lib 3.11 Step 7"). I hope this helps

Hello kosmous

the best I can offer you is to have a look at OSCAT's Step 7 library which contains a "SUN_POS" Block (Sun Position) that can be used for Solar tracking application (useable in S7-300 or 400 but NOT ina 1200).
You can download the library from www.oscat.de (site is in German, but library Blocksare documented in English, look for "osact.lib 3.11 Step 7").

The project implements 2axis sun tracking on a industrial Siemens Simatic S7-1214C PLC TIA platform,wherein the Siemens solar PLC controller directs on-axis sun tracking, following the sun throughout the day on its apparent contour as it moves accross the sky.

The sun tracker platform runs the NREL Solar Position Algorithm SPA to compute the sun anglesor solar coordinates of the sun vector as the solar azimuth angle and the solar zenith angle orthe solar elevation angle to follow the sun.

This automatic positioner or automatic positioning solar tracking system on the solar tracker was designed for adish stirling system where a parabolic dish solar reflector harness sunlightin a sense acting as a type of free energy device or concentrated solar power generator.

We now use the same solar function block in a micro combined heat and power plant with microgridstorage and layered smartgrid control strategies for off-grid solar supply to island villages and rural villages.
