TheMisfit Posts: 55 Rating: (1)	Is it possible to use tag prefix together with an Online trend Control? I would like to use a single picturewindow to display al my trends but need a way to prefix the archived tags. Is something like this possible????

The trend can be assigned to the prefixed tag. Is it that you want to display "variable" trends in a single window? That is, a window displays a bunch of trends and when I click on a button, a second bunch is displayed? Regards

I use a picturewindow (with tagprefix) already to adapt al of my tags to the part I've chosen. However I also have a trend control in the picturewindow and would like it to switch between archived tags just like I switch my proces tags. As far as I understand now, the connection between a trend control and its archive is static and can't be changed dynamicly. The goal is to separate my interface (the picture window with controls and trend) from my data (both process tags and archived process tags). Which is always a good practice for keeping an application maintenable.

Any way, the only solution I could think of was to create a bunch of "dummy" tags. And using script (when you change your combo box selection) transfer the real tag value to the dummy tag for displaying. This should not be difficult to do with the built-in functions available. My goal was to have lets say 5 archives that I can view in a single interface(trend) based on the selection in the combobox. Call me lazybutI do'nt wanna make 5 identical pictures with in each a trend that is staticly attached to its archive. I rather make one picture that I can dynamicly redirect to 1 of 5 archives. Kind like we do with picturewindows and tagprefix for online tags. For now I used a single picture with all my staticly attached trends on it but invisible. Then using VBS I show the trend at hand. At least I have a single picture to check for all my trend related coding but it's far from ideal.

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	TheMisfit: My solution needs a little bit more explaining. For the process tags display: Let us say we have 2 tags, Tag_A and Tag_B. We create one more tag called Tag_X. Now, on the screen, always Tag_X is displayed. But when make your selection (combo box), value of Tag_A or Tag_B will be transferred to Tag_X. This should not be too difficult to do, you agree? Now for the archive tags, and this will not be simple: We have 2 archive tags called Arch_Tag_A and Arch_Tag_B. These are being archived. Now we create a third tag called Arch_Tag_X. The trend always displays Arch_Tag_X. This means: a) We need to include this tag (Arch_Tag_X) also in the taglogging so that the trend can pick up. b) Overwrite the Arch_Tag_X with Arch_Tag_A or Arch_Tag_B depending on your selection. Actually this is turning in to an interesting problem. I'll give this a try and let's see. Regards, Phantom

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	TheMisfit: For the archived tags we can achieve what youhave in mindby using dynamic dialog (or C action) at the tagname parameter in the object properties (right click then properties not double click). See attached screenshot. So to say we do not need the additional tag. Similarly you can also display a process tag or online trend depending on your combo-box selection. Like in pseudocode: archivedTag = popupvalue (wich is kind of a 'archiveprefix') & baseTagName or onlineTag = popupvalue (wich is kind of a 'tagprefix' but without the use of a picturewindow) &baseTagName I just can't believe it is impossible to dynamicly determine the single most important object in any SCADA solution,.. a tag! This is my goal: Open a picture Select some part of my plant from a popupmenu Then the picture shows : A) a few process tags for that part B) a trend view with the archived data for that part C) a picturewindow with a structured tagfor that part(this is no prolem with the tag prefix) The whole solution should of course remain scalable for plantparts that are build in the future I'm going crazy here, need help desperate
