SP305 battery on Field PG M3 not detected

Recently I have updated BIOS in the Field PG M3 (6ES7715-1CC20-0BD1) to the V14.01.07 in order to replace the SP303 battery pack. Production of this battery had been discontinued, and Siemens delivered SP305 instead dedicated to the Field PG M5.

First I had inserted the battery in the Field PG M3 while the laptop had not been working and not connected to the power net. Next I switched the PG on and perceived that the power charging led (first on the left) didn’t changed from green to orange. Since starting Windows 7 the battery icon on the task bar has been crossed out and popping up text „No battery is detected” appeared after pointing the icon with the mouse. I had repated the a.m. procedure of inserting the battery and starting operating system several times before and later I kept the battery in the slot more than hour whlie being already conneted to the power grid, but the battery hasn’t been still detected.

Could you give any possible reasons of a such battery fault and how to solve the problem? At the same time after connecting the old SP303 battery everything is working fine on this Field PG M3.

Dear Quantron,

did you verify, that the BIOS version was correctly updated? You can verify this in Windows7 with the msinfo32 command.

Please be aware that ME V6.2.61.3535 is not the BIOS-Version. ME is Intel Management Engine.

The required BIOS-Version for the SP305 battery is V14.01.07. Only this update enables the SP305 battery for Field-PG M3.
