SplitTConnect Profibus PA

Hello everyone,

I need your help, im trying to connect a network of Profibus PA using the SpliTConnect Tap, i use a tree topology.

1) There any suggestion about the distance between the Tap, i have a small Junction Box and the distance between the Taps are like 2, 3 maximun 5 cm, there are any problem with this distance conection?.

2) The network are working well but the last time, the maintenance people disconnect one instrument and we lost all the network, you think maybe this problem in about the Tap conections and the distance?.

I have worked with Profibus-PA SpliConnect technology, and Junction boxes (from MTL, for Profibus-PA and FF), but never with both technologies mixed together.

I am not sure how you would calculate spurline liengths or termination placement in such a topology.

It would seem to me that removing an instrument from the network resulting in a complete crash could be caused by the loss of termination on the bus. Both technologuies (SpliConnect and junction boxes) have termination mechanisms that should prevent that, if they are designed properly.

Please provide a sketch of the network, showing where your termination resistors have been setup; maybe we could see something you do not yet.

This conversation will help me a lot and im going to add the topology of conection of the network, in this topology are two trunks, in the first one are installed the terminal conector at the end of the trunk, but i see a bad instalation of the SplitConnect can you confirm that please, and the second one have the terminal conector in the middle of the trunk, i know that the conector need to move to the end of the trunk.
