I purchased the SIMATIC S7-1200, failsafe starter kit. Besides the hardware included in the kit was
I installled the TIA software from the trial page ( https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/109772803/simatic-step-7-incl-safety-and-wincc-v16-trial-download?dti=0&lc=en-US ), as no installation disk was present. The software runs, could program the PLC, and see the license key in the license manager. it looks like the 21 trial days are up, I get a License 'STEP 7 Basic' was not found (0086:00300) error. Why? In the license manager I can see my Step 7 Safety Basic 16.0 key (see picture) So why is it not using this license? On a side note, I can not see my USB license key when I insert it. |

Well, it is sold as a "starters kit", I would assume this includes everything to make it run? Why would one need to spend an extra 150 EURO when buying https://mall.industry.siemens.com/mall/en/us/Catalog/Product/6ES7212-1HF42-4YB1 and ones gets STEP 7 Basic included when buying the cheaper starters kit https://mall.industry.siemens.com/mall/en/se/Catalog/Product/6ES7212-1BE34-4YB0. doesn make sense |

Did your starter kit come directly from Siemens, or 3rd party (like eBay)? If it came directly from Siemens, there should be a usb thumbdrive with the TIA Portal basic license installed. After installing TIA Portal, you should be able to transfer the license from the usb drive to your PCs c: drive using the ALM. This assumes your I.T. policies do not prohibit USB read/write and that you are allowed to create folders and write files on your C: drive.

Safety Starter kit does NOT include Step7 basic license, you need to buy it separately. |

So long story short
This is also the case
Except for 6ES7212-1HF42-4YB1 (paket 6), which is misleading, even for there own marketing team apparently. I complained for a bit, and we got it worked out. |
