Is there a limit on the number of DBs used in Step 7 basic? Is indirect addressing possible? The S7-200 uses IEC blocks does the S7-1200, does this cause memory restrictions? Is there a simulator for testing code?

It depends on what you mean with it. You can have access to one bit of a byte by entering DB1.DBX0.0. But you have no pointer addressing like in S7-200 or 300. S7-1200 also use IEC blocks for timer and counter instructions. And you have no memory restrictions. A PLC simulator is not avaible, but you can simulate a HMI. Hope my answer helps you. regards
