Step 7 V 11 + SP2 + UPD3 SCL AT Constructor problem.

Mr Lindh Bronze Member Joined: 2/12/2011 Last visit: 1/17/2025 Posts: 95 Rating: (33)	Hello I have a problem creating AT constructor in FB block STAT area in Step7 V11 professional. I konw that you create the AT constructor by typing AT in the datatype field in the row under the variable that you want to point to. I have done this before many times, without problem. When I try this procedure now Step7 wont accept my constructor. The strange thing is that this is working in some blocks and some not. The only difference that i can see is that the bocks that are working were created in an erlier release of step7 V11. Attached is one screen shoot, taken when its not working. Any Suggestions? or anybody with the same problem? Are you supposed to do this in an other way now? I have tried to rebuild all blocks, restarting Tia portal and computer. FCs will allow the AT overlay while FBs may not. There was a fairly detailed bit about the AT overlay constructor in the Portal Help system that helped me understand why I could not get it to work properly. Also, is this a multi-PLC project with possibly multiple PLC firmware levels?

I had the program function with FB blocks using AT references. I have thested this logic for a while without any problems at all. Is this restriction new now in SP 2 + UPD3 because when i made the program (SP1) it was possible to write AT constructors in FB blocks. I have searched the help system for AT documentation but its very limeted information. Do you have a better documentation? In old Step7 it was possible to use AT in FB blocks, why this restriction now?? See attached file, proving working AT command in STAT area of FB. It was my misstake, I accedentlycreatedmy new test block in LAD instead of SCL. And LAD does not support AT commands when using S7300 CPU. Everything works as excepted now. //Mattias Lindh.

Ok, that makes sense. As for the FB/FC thing, for the S7-1200, some datatypes work with FB and some work with FC. Strings for example only work in FBs if I remember correctly. If the S7-1200, you can access bits/bytes directly from a tag, so many times the AT overlay is not required. It may also be available in S7-300/400 in Portal but I only have the portal basic version. For example, a DWORD pointed at by tag My_Word, to get at bit 0, My_Word.x0 works.
