Stuxnet Virus

struggling_forward Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	My Boss has just found out about the Stuxnet virus and is making my life difficult. He want audits of all laptops for infection, all contractors laptops memory sticks etc which I suppose is fair enough. He has also asked, if we get an infection, can we simply over write the infected PLC with our backuped PLC programs from a CD? My questions are basic. If a PLC is infected, can I just overwrite with the backed up code? Most of the PLC's are used for machine control/automation not Process control. Is the infection specific to process control? Can the inection spread over my Profinet network?

This link will take you to the latest (Oct. 2010) Siemens information on the detection and removal of the virus, with a tool SYSCLEAN from Trendmicro (available from the link. It also gives hints on how to protect the PLCs such as the Simatic Security update, downloadable from the site: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/43876783 If you use thesearchbox above, with a target of "Stuxnet", you will find a few threads started on the forum, and links to different antivirus programmers who are studying ways of blocking its spread and minimize the damage it can do.
