Tar upgrade

tsitsikas96 Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	Hello. As I see in the latest image tar 1.24.1 is installed and I get the tar: unrecognized option message. As I read a solution is to update tar to a newer version. Is this possible? UPDATE: I found out that busybox tar is installed instead of gnu tar (coreutils). So the question now is what shall I change to create an image with gnu tools instead of busybox?

One possibility is to build an image on your own with the latest tar included. Another one is to install the latest tar from source on the IOT. This is the gnu tar. Copy the downloaded tar.xz file to your IOT and extract it with tar -xf tar-1.30.tar.xz Then go to the extracted folder and type in export FORCE_UNSAFE_CONFIGURE=1 that command is for configuring the package as root. Then type in ./configure then make and then make install I am trying this right now, but this takes a long time..
