Telecontrol Software

Hello everyone,

I am using CP 1242-7 GPRS modem in my project. I want to send SMS alerts through this modem. I am using CPU1214C DCD/DC/DC.

Do I need any software like "Telecontrol software" for configuring blocks in project or anything?

Hardware configuration, which I have selected is as below:

Is this sufficient enough?

Please clarify me about Telecontrol software? Do I need to purchase it for my program to work?

Telecontrol is more for communication between a PC and the PLC using modems. Why are you asking this ?Are you facing a problem now, Or do you just want to know what to order ? If you are facing programming problems than take a look at the Video and the demo project that Siemens provided. The Video:SIMATIC S7-1200: AT 3 - GPRS to SMS Demo project Set 32:Wireless signaling and switching via SMS with S7-1200 Controllers (Set 32) It’s a V11 project so probably (depending on your Tia version you need to upgrade the project) Set the modems setting like explained in the Video and Just Copy FB10 from the demo project to your project, correct the block inputs to your needs and you are good to send SMS by triggering the REQ.

I have seen that video and same program way before we got this project. Yes, I am ordering material now for my project. So, I needed confirmation from expert. But the problem is that some Siemens system house here told us that we will need to use this software (Telecontrol), for which I was also got confused whay do we need thatsoftware for sending SMS ? I told them that we won't need it. We only need CP 1242-7 GPRS modem and it is sufficient to send and recieve SMS, but they need some advice from experts. As those system house people were telling this very confidently to use Telecontrol software. Now I got confirmation from you people, I will start ordeing material. Thanks a lot guys...
