The number of Data Blocks in redundant 417

thn Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	Hi all. So we're having this redundant 417 system and just found out that the maximum amount of data blocks is 8192 and we'd need a lot more. How come the number of DB's is so low on redundant system? I believe there's nothing that we can do to increase the number of DB's but what would You do in a situation like this? Any tips or ideas? Silent Bob Posts: 836 Rating: (100)	Mario Braganca 8191 bloks, that can have 64KByte each. I doubt you can have 64k in each of the 8191 blocks. That would be > 500 megabytes of data. Not even the biggest 417 can handle that (15mb working memory for code, 15 for memory).

The new hardware has been promoted on the SPS/IPC/Drives 2011 exhibition in Nürnberg. Anyway... it's a fact that the new 416-5H and 417-5H will support 16000 DBs, 8000 FCs and 8000 FBs.

Now back to the topic. Hence you can't increase the number of available DBs you have to look for some other solution. Isn't it possible to use one DB for more data. Just define arrays inside this DB for deticated functions and access the data my means of ANY pointers. A other solution would be to transfer the needed data via a communication link from another "Station" maybe from the OS. What exactly is your need of so many DBs?
