Time sync of protection 7UM621 via PROFIBUS

Dear colleagues,

I got an issue with time sync via Profibus.

I have a SIPROTEC 7UM621 that is connected to PLC VIPA CPU313SC DPM via Profibus. PLC serves as a master that is supposed to synchronise clock of 7UM621. Profibus status on 7UM621 is in “DATA_EXCHG” mode, data transfer (pick-up, trip…) between PLC and 7UM621 is functioning perfectly for the exception of time synchronisation.

Source of Time Synchronization on 7UM621 is set to Profibus.

TimeSyncEnable = 1

I checked the Profibus-DP Communication module manual (C53000-L1840-B001-03) and everything looks fine by me but I still get the message on 7UM621 »TimeSy: Diff. >1min« which shows that no time sync message was received for more than one minute.

Is someone familiar with VIPA PLCs and compatibility with Profibus time sync?

The documentation for your non-Siemens CPU31x(SC) states the following:

Device Documnetation

Evaluation of this bit in a CPU is only useful if there is continuous external time synchronization

It seems like there is no profibus master providing time sync services in your PB network and the error status should be ignored.

Dear 0_Einstein,

We checked the settinhs on PLC and it is set as Master on PB network. Internal clock of PLC was set with TIA, but Siprotec doesnt recieve sync from PLC.

I attacthed few print screens of TIA setting.
