TimeDate Conversion error

Pontus Posts: 51 Rating: (1)	Hello I want the PLC and HMI Date and time to by syncronized, and also automatic change with Summer/Winter Time. I think this program is right for that?: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/26961517 But when the switch between summer and winter occurs, I get a message that says: "Tag DateTime\DateTime_DB.io_HMI_DT:conversion error" The time is changing correct but the input/output field where I change the time only shows ######. And that is what the alarm is about. If I change screens or shut down the HMI the input/output shows the correct value again. I think the alarm will dissapear if the Date/time was only a input, but thats not possible. Im using a S7 315 2DP and a MP 370 key 12". Anyone know why tis happens or have an solution to it?

If than still errors occure you should use the link Suggestion for the entry.

Exept that I have copied all the blocks and symbols to another project because I have another PLC, and then I changed Device Type in WinCC Flexible because I have another OP, as I wrote in the first message. But I was wondering, do I really need all this code? If I syncronize the PLC with the OP instead, then I wont need any code because I have a windows-based panel and the panel itself should adjust summer/winter time?

Hi, If the MP370 would have an automatic daylight savings time like your windows computer has, I would agree with you. To bad this part of intelligence is not available in the panels, so some PLC code is necessary. Another possibility is the use of a time-server. If your PLC has a ethernet connection to a time server (NTP server) your problem is also solved almost without programming. See e.g. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/22144502

Pontus Posts: 51 Rating: (1)	OK, so the panels dont have it... The panel I am going to use is a TP177A, the other one was just for testing. I noticed that when I let the panel do the time controlling, the clock stopped when I turned the power off. And that is nothing I want to happen. Do I have to use the PLC in this case? The panel is a TP177A and the CPU is a 312. I think there is a really lot of code for this summer/winter controlling (plus that its not working for me), cant I just adjust with one hour up/down when the CPU passes a specified time by using a comparator? And perhaps some converting between different formats to get it right? Or is there any risk by doing this?

The clock of the 177-series panels is not buffered and also the TP277 and OP277 clock is not buffered. So must use a CPU as clock master. I'm working on the formats. Which regional settings do you use?

Normaly the size of DATE_AND_TIME is 8 bytes, but for the WinCC flexible area pointer Date/time PLC you have to add 2 words.

Pontus Posts: 51 Rating: (1)	Sorry, but what do you mean with regional settings? I have choosen Swedish as language in my WinCC program... Im not sure what you mean with your last message. Big enough for what? I havent done any own programming that increase or decrease the PLC time eith one our yet, I was just wondering if It could be done by just adjutsing the time with one our at the right time, two times a year. If you mean if the DB is big enough forthe sample program that I used from this site, then I dont know. I have just copied the blocks etc.
