TIP: S7-1500 Reset of Diagnostic Buffer

Denilson Pegaia Platinum Expert Joined: 9/23/2005 Last visit: 11/14/2024 Posts: 4352 Rating: (1452)	Hi, The S7-1500 has a diagnostic buffer divided (user transparent) in two parts: a retentive and a non retentive area. The size of these parts are showed in the CPU specifications manual as “No. of entries, max.” (retentive + non retentive) and “Of which are power failure-proof” (retentive). The non retentive area is lost at: - Power on - Memory Reset - Reset to factory settings The retentive area is lost just with the reset to the factory settings. Hello again, Thank you very much for sharing tips, if possible please share manual related for further reading material.About the behavior of "Diagnostic Buffer" of CPU, if it is like conventional CPUs, should be like "First In First Out" stack as you mentioned. As a life long user of SIMATIC products, when I have encountered the retentivity concept in CPUs, I had some selection options like max retentive byte number. For clarification , we can try "support request" or try a real test.Update if you get some new idea! Thank you- Hamid Hosseini
