Hi, It is very common in automation, use of supervision and control systems in plants / machines with high complexity. To maintain a high degree of efficiency, it is necessary to provide to operator an overview of what is happening, keeping it clear of excessive details. To keep this "clean" view of what is happening is common to have operating screens with large numbers of objects, but leaving visible just the main information of them and showing details about a topic just by operator action (e.g. mouse click), in a window that opens on the screen.
An overview of the features of WinCC Professional V13 is available in the product manual, available under http://support.automation.siemens.com/BR/view/en/92323076 link. The use of Screen windows is covered, in particular Chapter 10.1, topical Screen window. Attached here is a simple example / pdf that shows how create this feature.
