• The TM_MAIL does not support encrypted e-mail transfer over SSL or TLS as required by googlemail.com, for example. This means that you cannot use Google Mail.
• In the CPU you must activate the router and set the correct IP address of the router. Otherwise the CPU cannot reach the public IP address of the e-mail server.
• TM_MAIL can only communicate with an e-mail server using SMTP through Port 25. The assigned port number cannot be changed.

TM_MAIL does not function with external e-mail servers in company networks which only permit internet access by proxy and usually block all the other ports including Port 25. It must be possible to communicate externally over the TCP Port 25.
You can establish a connection through SMTP with an internal e-mail server and let the internal server manage the current security extensions required to forward e-mails over the internet to an external e-mail server.

You can use, for example, Microsoft Exchange as internal e-mail server. You can configure the server so that the SMTP access is permissible from the IP address that is assigned to the S7-1200. Configure the Exchange management console: Server Configuration > Hub Transport > Receive Connectors >IP Relay. In the "Networks" tab is the field "Receive e-mails from remote servers with the following IP addresses". Here you enter the IP address of the PLC device that executes the TM_MAIL instruction.
