Trigger Data Logging from PLC on HMI

Hey guys!

Newbie here, have some experience in both S7 Classic and TIA V13, but would really like your opinions/help on a solution.

Hardware/Software Used:

S7-1215C

TP700 Comfort

TIA Portal V13 SP1 Upgrade 4

I have found some similar threads, but just couldn´t understand how the following function can be accomplished.

I need two separate logs in CSV-format. I want to log each time a measurement is finished, so no timed events or button controlled triggers. I have two PLC-tags that would be suitable for triggers.

Is this possible using the Historical data -> Data log? I just cant find how to use bit triggered logging?

Several threads here sugested using the system function "LogTag", but i just cant understand it should be used? The only "Events" available for the data logs is "Overflow", and i guess this is an event used for when the log is full?

Or is the built in Data log function not suitable for this, do I need to use a script instead?

It seems like a quite simple function, but i´m having a really hard time configuring it.

I was looking for this and i figured it out after a tinkering for a while.. you need 5 simple steps....

1. Set up your data logs in historical data with logging method "trigger event".

2. Still in historical data, set up your logging modes with your acquisition mode "On Demand"

3. Go to the HMI tags and look for the tag you want to use to trigger logging. Click on it and go to properties -> Events. With event "Value change" add the function "startlogging" and point it to the log that you entered in step 1

4. Now add a "logTag" function and select the tag you want to log (should correspond to the log tag in step 2.

5. add the function "stoplogging" and point it to the log that you entered in step 1.

You should be done and it will work.

What you mean with Smart CPU? S7-200?
