UNABLE TO OPEN PROJECT??..

kanan Posts: 133 Rating: (2)	Hi. I am trying to open some old S7 projects on step7-v5.4 but i have message that:"The project was changed using tool of the Windows Explorer. The data for access protection has been modified to such an extent that it is no longer possible to open the project" ??/ What happened?i do not know. May be some body knows?Thank you!

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	Where was the project stored? I have seen this happen when you store the project on a CD (without first archiving). When youcopythis project from the CD to a harddisk andtry to open it, you get these kind of errors.

Sometimes we have had problems with that when accessing restored files. Possibly this has an impact on your present situation. If you haven't doneso already, Right-click on the folder containg thecopied files (on your hard-disk), click on the folder Properties, and uncheck the Attributes: READ-ONLY checkbox at the bottom of the popup.This should change this attribute for all files in the folder. Hopefully this will remove your problem. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

So, to preserve the integrity of your projects, you should always follow these 2 golden rules: 1. Do not copy projects directly using Windows Explorer, only use Archive/Retrieve. 2. Alwayszip/unzip projectsfrom Simatic Manager only, not externally. Regards

IIt shows that it is removing "read only" from the folder but when i go back to properties "read only" still there?? and this happenes in all folders(any other) which i checked...even not S7 projects.. may be settings wrong?i have checked in a different PC's-the same...?

I have tryed this, but it is not working as well/.. i think problem not on "read only" attribute-but in something else.. because i have used some "read only" remover softwares and they shows that my project do not have any read only folder(but in properties i can see that). i think read only was removed but windows for some reason shos this attribute marked???...this happenes in any folder in windows-you can check it in your PC. any way thank you all! regards
