Upgrade of licences in the SIMATIC Automation License Manager

We are frequently asked how to upgrade licenses in the SIMATIC Automation License Manager.

Prerequisite

To upgrade a license key or an "old authorization" the following prerequisites are necessary

• You need the CoL (Certificate of License) of the software version to be upgraded and the License Key or an "old authorisation".

• You need the CoL and the upgrade licence key from the target version.
• The licence keys or authorisations must be accessible on the local computer.

- If the upgrade target is a licence key on the following storage locations: licence key data carrier or authorisation disk, drive or USB memory stick.

- If the upgrade target is an authorisation: only on the authorisation disk.

Performing a Licence Upgrade

To upgrade a licence key (hereinafter referred to as a licence key, even if the source or target is an authorisation)
