The Existing system has the following MOBY Sensors / Data Carriers installed : SLG 42 Read/Write Device - 6GT2001-0BA00 MOBY SP data Carriers - 6GT2000-0AA10-0AA0 I have two queries : 1. What are the best replecements of these in S7-300 / S7-1500 ? 2. Can I retain the existing Data Carriers while just replacing the Reqd Write Devices ? Thanks Navnag

How many readers are you planning to operate with? What's the reading distance your need to operate?

Option-1- S7-1500 with TIA Option-2 - S7-300 with Simatic Manager V5.5 Whichever will provide us with a better and of course more Economical solution. Cheers Navnag

Ident Posts: 3 Rating: (3)	Dear Navnag, The existing system which you have belongs to Moby I family which is discontinued since Oct 01,2011. The successor for Moby I systems is RF 300 Family. But you depending on your requirement you can go with either RF 200 or RF 300 system. For selection of the system, refer the below link for the RFID selection guide. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/67384964 With respect to the connectivity, i would prefer to go with the Profinet communication. Irrespective of the Automation system (either S7 1500 or S7 300) the hardwares will remain the same for the RFID part. Only the Function blocks used will be different with respect to the CPU and the software used. 1. S7 300 on Simatic Manager - FB 45 Block 2. S7 1500 on Tia Portal- Ident Block I hope this clarifies your question. Let me know if you need more clarification.
