Use of scripts (vb script,java script)??

Please help me if you know the answer... 1) what is script in general? Why it is needed in PLC or HMI ? 2) Where the scripts are developed and how the scripts are interfaced with the existing PLC or HMI? 3) All the PLC can support to the SCRIPT or some higher end PLC only? please clarify me..!! The computer executes the instructions, then returns data, a value -- which could be a number, a string, a list, or another data type. It is used in PLC or HMI to get some values you needed for example if you want to control some process values or something else. Where the scripts are developed? Well is depends which script you want to develop. There are some development evironment for scripting and it depends on which script you want to create/program best regards bigfoot.

Now i am trying to get data from plc to my computer using tcp_ip (only using ethernet cable)connection... Mothilal Posts: 165 Rating: (25)	hello bigfoot My doubt is, without using OPC or other specialhardware/software devices can i transfer the data or tag value from plc to pc? i just want to write the script (as it is in the attached manual) and i want to transfer the tag values with cost effective manner. The written script should act like a interface between plc tag and pc through a single ethernet cable. Is this possible? please let me know... i am beginner to this one... Thanks Regards Mothilal

I'm also a beginner at this topic, but i know that you need something on the plc which have to give you the tags and with a script or something you can read them. Mothilal Posts: 165 Rating: (25)	hi bigfoot I am using simotin c240 . I have other s7 series plc like s7 300... In my case, " I have an ethernet port in my plc and my computer. PLC is fitted in customerplant production machine. Normally to monitor the tag from plc or hmi, we need the programming software (for s7 300 we need simatic manager.. same way for simotion c240 we need simotion scout). But we dont want to give the programming software to our customer. The production manager need to watch or record the production process from his cabin.. So we have planned to connect the production plant PC with PLC via the ethernet cable. So by this communication, the production manager has to access the production details (by accessing the corresponding tags) whenever he wants from the cabin. " this is my requirement..Is this possible by writting script? orshould i go for any special licensed software? thanks Regards Mothilal * happy valentine's day*
