What Does 32 INPUT MODULE WITH INTERRUPT CAPABILITY MEANS in S5?

Hi there,

We have a problem with S5-115U - 943B that goes to STOP Mode alot (QVZ) and when I checked the I Stack looks like I have problem with a 6ES5 432-4UA12 Input Card (32DI) and tried to find the answer for the problem, I saw a comment that this card has Interrupt Capability and I don't know what it means!

Is there any body who knows what that means (Not the meaning of the word)? and also what's the different between this and a normal 32 Digital Input if I want to change it?

Also seen notes from Siemens that this Card is blocked for S5-115U !!!

Connection to the card are one Encoder and 3 digital Input from Photocells (PEC).

Hello Ahoora,

Interrupt capability means to have the ability to trigger (HW) interrupts, whereas normal DI inputs have to be polled. An interrupt would give you a guaranteed short response time to a change of an input, wheras response time of a polled input (standard DI) would rely on cycle time and thus on program lenght. Therefore high speed applications like HSC use interrupts.
