Why Offset doesn´t appear in DBs?

emNOB Posts: 1 Rating: (2)	import an old program from Step7 V 5.5 to Step7 V11 SP1 Up 2 (TIA Portal) and I can see the offset of tags (variables) in a DB, but if I create a new tag (variable), all offsets are replaced for "..." and I can´t edit them.

Once you compile your DB, the offsets should appear :)

premex_man Posts: 3 Rating: (10)	In TIA PORTAL V13 SP1 it's important to uncheck the box "Optimized block access" in the atributes of data block. Then the column "offset" appear and next You should compile the DB :)

Once you compile your DB, the offsets should appear :) you must: click DB --> right mouse click-->> click Properties-->>Attributes--> uncheck the box "Optimized block access. then compile. Now you can use Offset in DB

0_Einstein Diamond Expert Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 3/24/2023 Posts: 13205 Rating: (2147)	In TIA Portal, s7-1200/1500 logic when written the way Siemens designed the hardware and software intended rarely requires the offset to be visible (using non-optimized datablock configurations). For communications blocks, it's usually necessary. For telegram data from external devices, it is sometimes helpful to use non-optimized DBs. However, even then, a little thinking about the problem and you can avoid the PLC processing speed penalty associated with non-optimized DB tags. aCarlos123... Tnks for the information!
