WinCC 6.2 "database context does not exist or is invalid"

Liftaren Posts: 21 Rating: (2)	Here's a strange one... I migrated a project from WinCC 5.1 to 6.2 and everything worked fine, no errors during migration. The project was started up, it worked fine though a couple of texts were missing. The missing texts were filled in again and the PC was carried out to the plant. When WinCC is then started (same machine, same project), the error "database context does not exist or is invalid" appears. What in the world has happened?

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi, Do you have any other Siemens software installed on that computer? If so, which and under which version? Or are you using ODK functionality? Some ODK functions require an RC license instead of an RT license. There's a FAQ you can take a look at... Also.. take a look at your logs... if you have trouble going through it, post them here... Liftaren Posts: 21 Rating: (2)	No, other Siemens software than WinCC and SoftNet. And no ODK installed either. But, reading a bit in here in the forum, I come to think of that it might be so that WinCC didn't detach all database connections the first time it was "closed and exited"? But on the other hand, the computer was turned off and moved to the plant, so connections had to be terminated "the hard way". We got it working with a second migration made earlier, but the faulty project could not be deleted. There, on the other hand, it could be that database wasn't detached properly. I will try "Reset_WinCC.vbs" today...

There was a thread, recently, where a user used this script, and had figured out a coupld of things about it... but I can't find it right now... Best regards, Danielle

Liftaren Posts: 21 Rating: (2)	Well, I haven't heard anything from the plant today... Unfortunately Reset_WinCC-script was doomed to fail, since default install folder is "Program Files". And the script don't react well with spaces from what I learned. If it's a vbs-textfile it could be changed to recognize spaces, but since I don't have WinCC here at the office ($iemen$ pricing.... ) I can't tell.
