WinCC Basic V13 SP1 – Simple Sample: Recipes controlled by PLC

“Simple Samples” are small projects that demonstrate simple features. The target is give a quick overview about the theme and be used as start point for related discussions. Follow there are a short description and the configuration main steps.

Description:

In this simple sample, it is possible to work with recipes (upload, download), sending commands from the controller, by Job mail box. As demonstration proposes the controller logic (setting of the JobMailBox values) is simulated by HMI buttons.

Requirements:

WinCC Basic V13 SP1.

Project with a minimum configuration (stop button, tags, recipes, etc. See Simple sample WinCC Basic V13 SP1 – Simple Sample Recipes at https://support.industry.siemens.com/tf/br/en/posts/135157/).

Configuration main steps:

• Create in the PLC a DB (not optimized) with 4 words (in our example, DB1, with the variables JobNr = DBW0, Parameter1 = DBW2, Parameter2 = DBW4 and Parameter3 = DBW6).

• Define in the HMI a job mailbox (Project Tree → HMI → Connection → Area Pointer: active = set; Access mode = <absolute address>; Address = %DB1.DBW0

• To download a Data Record to the PLC, write in the PLC the follow values (the order of writing is important:

  • DB1.DBW6 = 0 (not user)

  • DB1.DBW4 = Data Record number (in our example, 2)

  • DB1.DBW2 = Recipe Number (in our example, 1)

  • DB1.DBW0 = 70

• To upload a Data Record from the PLC, write in the PLC the follow values (the order of writing is important:

  • DB1.DBW6 = 1 (enable overwriting)

  • DB1.DBW4 = Data Record number (in our example, 2)

  • DB1.DBW2 = Recipe Number (in our example, 1)

  • DB1.DBW0 = 69

  • Note: in this sample the Recipe View is on the screen. So select in Recipe view, a different data record number before to click in upload command button

you can set a variable on the recipe to express the recipe name (or any other reference).

After download, the PLC could check if the name match with the application, comparing the recipe value with his internal value. 

Based on it, the PLC could also built a internal list recipe x index.

e.g. it is a question of the "sequence" of moving. first set the parameter and, at last, the job nr. If it doesn't work, move all values as from a OB with priority > 15.
