Greetings. I seem to have a problem, and it seems to be getting worse. On some occasions, when I try to open the Graphics Editor, the WinCC Explorer window hangs. It changes the mouse cursor to an hour-glass if I hover over it, and the window goes white if I cycle through my tasks and come back to it. It does not seem to effect Runtime (which is started seperately on power-up) even if I 'kill' it with Task Manager. I had ApDiag running at the time, and it reported nothing. I'm digging through the WinCC diagnostics folder now, but has anyone else experienced this problem? The Server had only been running an hour, when it hung this morning, and it looks like it won't work properly unless I reboot. |

Hi, Ik have had this on several pc's. All those pc's were used for developing. Ihad to reboot the complete pc most of the time, or had to wait for more then 10 minutes before wincc explorer restored itself. Only way to solve the problem for me was to reinstall wincc. Maybe someone else has an other solution/idea. with regards, ikkezelf |

Yes I see this problem too on all my development machines. I always cure it by killing the Graphics Designer process - grafexe.exe - in Task Manager. As soon as I do this it opensa new instance and succesfully opens the Graphics Designer. I have no idea why but suspect it could be a networking issue. |

Hi Nemo. This is a 'bare bones' machine - dedicated WinCC Server. It doesn't have anything on it (beyond the Operating System) that isn't specifically requiredfor a standardinstall of WinCC (which was the last software installed). UPDATE - Using Task Manager to 'kill' Grafexe.exe works OK the first few times, but then gets to a point where a reboot is the only way forward. Once the SCADA is installed, I will end up doing my mods on a live system controlling the plant, and rebooting it is not going to go down too well. |

I am experiencing the exact same issue on a corporate development PC. Sadly I am not EXACTLY the admin of the PC, but a Power User with most admin accesses. I am dealing with the issue by using Task Manager to shut it down then running ""C:\Program Files\Siemens\WinCC\bin\Reset_WinCC.vbs" to allow myself access to the project once again. The project I am working with was created on another computer, so environment is definitely different. This is a Single-User Project and it is our first, so I am not in a position to say that this is an exception or norm, but the other developement PC is a laptop and does NOT suffer from the same issues. Our licenses are handled over a network as well. |
