WINCC redundant ethernet connection

Therefore you can use it for most general purpose applications, but you should keep in mind that you will need to buy SOFTNET license for this card to function.

I allways thought that making redundant connection is only possible with redconnect software which requires Siemens cards. Can you give any reference to info for second scenario ?

Raednabeel Posts: 96 Rating: (7)	Dear Darius, The second method is used in software redundancy, and I had used it . See the attached for a PDF. When I had implemented the method , I did not find any thing relates it to what is existed in the PLCs side. All what it dose is to generate a global C action, this will change the connection parameters to pre-configured ones in order to connect with the other PLC. So , my question is why it will not work instead of the first method ? especially it is easier and cheaper ! Attachment SWR_WINCC_english.zip (687 Downloads)

I don't see why it can't, but as in any other software redundancy case you will get lower speed of changing connection, poor diagnostics (if compare to REDCONNECT) and it will need extra configuring and script writing. Script is not so reliable as 'real' hardware sollution. So if it is ok for then I don't see any problems.
