WinCC Unified – how to connect the PLC simulation to the HMI simulation?

Hi,

i see the post about establishing the Unified simulation, could you please expand on this by explaining how to connect the PLC simulation to the HMI simulation?  we only have PLC sim, not advanced.

Introduction

As from the TIA V16, there was the introduction of the WinCC Unified. This is an engineering platform for HMI Comfort Unified and for WinCC Unified PC.  It brings many news regarding the WinCC Advanced / WinCC Professional.

Among other things, this version is heavily supported by HTML5, (including for simulation purposes, which differs from previous versions).

Here are in brief mode the steps to set up the first project and simulate it (attached related figures):

WinCC Unified Configuration

1. During installation an initial adjustment of WinCC Unified Configuration is made. Just in case, run it again (e.g. from desktop).
2. In step User Adminstration, write down the username and password (figure 1) for later use.
3. In step Secure download, uncheck “Activate secure download” (figure 2)

TIA Portal

1. Create a new project as usual: Project view, top menu, Project, new
2. Add an HMI or RT as usual (this time, type Unified): Project tree, Add new device, choose the type, OK.
3. Create a screen and draw something there (project tree…, Screen, Add new scree…)
4. Start the simulation (top menu, Simulation, start)

SIMATIC Runtime Manager

1. Just for check: open it (e.g. from desktop) and see if the simulate project stay there, and in SIMULATION mode. (figure 3)

IIS

1. Just for check: control panel, view by small icons, Administration tool, Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, Sites, WinCC Unified SCADA (figure 4)

Web Browser

1. Open an Internet Browser (e.g. Chrome, or Edge), give the URLhttps://localhost (figure 5), Click on WinCC Unified RT.
2. Give the noted user and password (figure 6)

Split from WinCC Unified – TIP’s for first project & simulation.

Hi,

e.g. the HMI simulation uses the PC's channel S7ONLINE (see connection properties).
In my tests I used PLCSIM Adavenced and "Ethernet Adapter" mode. In this case I set the "Setting PG/PC interface" to S7ONLINE = "PLCSIM Adappter...".

Which simulation software did you used?

How the Setting PG/PC inteface was set?

Hi I tried it too. PLCSIM advanced V3.0 is working on ethernet adapter, thats o.k.

But standard PLCSIM V16 is not working. Add on, you are not able to download changes created on screens to simulation of panel. I just gett error :"The selected object cannot be downloaded to device".

The connection between simultion of panel and PLC could not be established.

PLCSIM preset PG/PC interface to S7ONLINE(step7) -> PLCSIM.TCPIP

I do not know if its system behaviour or some bad settings.

Add on I add TP700 comfort standard to my project and connection between this panel and PLCSIM V16 can be established.

I suggest at this moment, to simulate your system with PLCSIM Advanced. Communication with PLC SIM (not advanced) will be released in the nexts versions.
