Sasi Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Dear Experts in WinCC, I want to access COM1 or COM2 to communicate with some devices while using WinCC. The data acquired through the serial communication will be put in WinCC tags by a VB program. While WinCC is activated, I am not able to access COM1 or COM2. I have solved the problem by installing one more COM card (COM3, COM4 etc.) and is working fine. What is the configuration to be done in WinCC so that it will not block COM1. I am using WinCC ver 6.0 to communicate with S7 over Profibus/Industrial Ethernet. Please help. Sankaran Namboothiripad.

Nemo Posts: 3149 Rating: (171)	Hi, if you´ve installed aserial channel in WinCC Tagmanagement your COM-ports will be occupied. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/21320307 Server-Redundancy is controlled/checked via a separte serial cable as well, there are no extra settings in WinCC for enabeling/disabeling COM-port... nemo
