I'm developing a system with CPU-317-2PN/DP, 16 CH Namur input (7TH00), 10 CH & 16 CH monitored output modules (2BF10 & 8BH10) and HMI with WinCC flexible. I need to monitor the input and output wires connected at these modules, and in case of a external wire faults only, would be showed a screen indication. My questions are: - Will be need to enable "Diagnostic interrupt" in each module? If yes, need to create blocks like OB82 and OB121 or anothers? - Is there any simple method to use WinCC to read the fault or just reading a variable in a block (DB?) where is marked the channel with the external wire fault? Sugestions will be accept! Thanks all!

Is it possible to use it to activated colored buttons in WinCC? Eg. one yellow button blinks indicating "Zone x" wire break fault. For this, I need the faulted channel number saved in a DB block address or a variable tag "ON"... Any sugestion? Thanks again!

I need to show in a screen (HMI) when a channel conection fault occured in field (wire breaks and short circuits only). Will be small green buttons like lights indicators to each channel (field zone). When a fault occur, the buttons change to red (I attached an image example). Also, will have an alarm logging to save all faults in an hard disk file. I'm studing the use of RSE, but I only learned how to transfer messages from CPU to a DB block and use it in alarm logging (I like to write the messages in alarm logging and use tags to show them in the screen. I don´t know how I can identify each channel fault yet and how I can use it as a memory or DB variable. Do you have any suggestion? Thanks again! Attachment HMI_buttons.GIF (352 Downloads)

You will have to write program and intergrate it to say a data block and configure it in Flexible. Or best you can use the "Report system error" and take the status in program and show the status that you want in screen. Have fun...

Do you know (or have) any example program that I can use to how to identify "wire break" & "short circuit" events in a OB block using RSE? Till now, I only found in this forum how to read messages from OBs... Another thing: I don't have the hardware at this moment and I pretend to use PLCSIM to make some tests in the project. But I didn't find specifically "wire break", "short circuit" and a channel address (it only has module address) in "Diagnostic Interrupt OB" from "Trigger Error OB" option. How I can do this test??? Have a nice day!

For other input you will have to go through the help file of ob's Have fun

In this project I have to monitor wires in: - Inputs using 2 resistors (configured for NAMUR sensor) in 7TH00 module. - Outputs with relays connected. The output module 2BF10 has inputs and outputs together (same pins, same address I/Q) and has "Diagnostic interrupt" too. I don´t know if is necessary to create routines to use input address to detect short circuits or if diagnostic function do it (see the attached image here: /tf/WW/en/Posts/64917#top ) Thanks a lot!

The value status is stored in the process image as is the input signal. Value status The value status is additional binary information on a digital input signal. The value status is entered at the same time as the process signal in the process input image and provides information on the validity of the input signal. The value status is influenced by Sensor or power failure Wire break test, short-circuit in sensor line Flutter monitoring Diagnostics with sensor changeover contact Digital input and value status assignment In the process image, each input in the input word IW x of the module is assigned a value status in the subsequent IW x+2. Figure: Digital input and value status assignment Meaning of value status The value status means: 0 = Signal invalid 1 = Signal valid Evaluation of the Value Status in PCS 7 The value status is evaluated in your CFC program with block FC 277 "CH_DI: Digital Input". This module undertakes the processing of the digital input value of S7-300-Digital input modules. How the value status gets into the block: Link the symbol created with STEP 7 in the symbol table for the digital input channel with the VALUE input parameter. Link the status symbol of the value of the digital input channel with the VALUE_QC input parameter Set the PQC = TRUE input parameter If you use the driver wizard in PCS 7 (as of V 5.1), steps 2 and 3 are executed automatically by PCS 7.
