Wireless communication between S7400 & Profibus Encoder

GAS2 Posts: 66 Rating: (0)	Hi All, In my system S7 400 CPU is communicating with absolute encoder on profibusand its working. But we want it wireless. Is there any siemens hardware or any method to read pulses with wireless communication? How many masters we can configure on profibus? I have one solution in mind. We are going to use Prosoft Wireless PROFIBUS DP Communication Gateway module. There are two different modules Master & Slave. Is this suitable for this application? Like this, is there any siemens hardware? Waiting for reply. Thank you.

As you know Profibus is based on a Token. If this token is transfered over WLAN it's getting a delay. For this reason Siemens offers only Ethernet based IWLAN solutions. This means for you: - You need a CP443-1 or a CPU with an Profinet capable port. Please also check or your CPU is compatible with a ProfiNet IO supporting CP. Older ones don't support the PN IO functionallity of the CP. - Then you need a ScalanceW784/W786/W788 Access Point. Depending on the Number of Wireless Device this can be a PRO/Standard or Rapid Roaming/iPCF device to maintain the high reaction times needed. - As Little Holmes Told on the side of your Profibus devices you can use a Gateway called IWLAN/PB Link PN IO. This is a device which support up to 8 Profibus Slaves and has Profibus Master functionallity.

Pl have a look at the following : http://schildknecht.info/Dokumente122005/GB_DE3x0x.pdf We have used it for connecting distributed I/Os over wireless Profibus.
