Wireless Networks - Recommendations Request

Dear All,

Usually, we use fiber optic networks to connect remote IOs over a wide and distant locations but I'm having that following case:
I need to collect data from different - remote - locations and I can't use fiber optic cables.
Data collection is for supervisory purposes only - No critical Jobs -
I will use Wireless Networks Using Access points, Scalances, Antennas ... etc

My request is:
Because I'm a beginner in the field of wireless communication , I need you guys to guide me to the best documents that explains the dos and don'ts, recommendations to help me do the right equipment selection.
