Hello Engineer; I am afraid you are facing a very common problem: protocol différences over the same physical layer. Profinet and Ethrnet/IP both sghare TCP/IP layers, but at the application level (of the OSI standard) they are incompâtible. Ethernet/IP data frames are tailored for Rockwell PLCs, bu using a format known as CIP (Common Industrial Protocol, strangely enough). See this link for a more detailed presentation: http://www.rtaautomation.com/technologies/ethernetip/ Profinet uses Profbus-type data frames instead of CIP (beacuse Siemens was more familiar with them); from the same company, http://www.rtaautomation.com/technologies/profinet-io/ Basically, when you use TCP or UDP to connect to your slave, you are doindg the same as dialing a phone line and having the person answer you in another language: you have an electrical connection that matches both your communication equipments, but you cannot understand each other. In the case of the telephone call, you would need to change recipients to have someone understand your tongue on the line, or have a translator help you out. In automation terms, you need to change your (as yet undescribed) equipment to one that answers Profinet frames, or you need to place a protocol converter between your CPU and the unit you want to exchange dat with. Any one of these companies could offer you such a product (but is the cost worth it?): https://www.google.ca/?gws_rd=ssl#q=profinet+to+ethernet+ip&spf=1497047541381 Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
