Hello Arunraje; First, let's discuss the Y-link, with Profibus-DP slaves. The basic premise is that a Y-Link acts as an interface between redundant H-system Profibus-DP masters and single-bus Profibus-DP slaves (your Simocode, your drives...). But itappears as a single DP-slave in regards to the redundant DP-masters, and it has the limitations of a single Profibus-DP slave: a maximum of 244 bytes OUT/244 bytes IN. Let.s say your drives are Siemens MM440, and you select PPO5, which uses 14 Words OUT/14 Words IN (so a total of 28 bytes OUTand IN). You could setup 8 of the MM4s behind a single Y-Link, using up 244 bytes OUT/224 bytes IN. You could slip in another slave using up the last 20 bytes, if you have one. Of course, if you decide to use the same drives with PPO3, which uses only 4 bytes OUT/4 bytes IN, you could create a segment of 32 nodes behind the Y-Link without a problem. But the amount of data echanged between the slaves and the masters will be much less. So basically you need to calculalate the ressources required by your slaves, and probalbly look for compromisebetween the amount of data collected and the number of Y-links rimplemented. Next, the DP-PA link can be configured in a redundant fashion, with the same dual IM 153-2 interfaces and active bus modules as used in a Y-link. The number of instruments that can be connected will depend on the type of DP-PA couplers used (you can have up to 5 couplers per DP-PA link). See the information in the following link: How is the DP/PA link structured? The following manual should answer most of your remaining questions: SIMATIC Bus links DP/PA coupler, active field distributors, DP/PA Link and Y Link Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Thank you dchartier, Somewher I read In general (as a thumb rule) we can connect 31Slaves(SOV, MOV) on a single Y-Link. Is it..? I will go through the links provided by you in previous post. Please provide somemore information. Regards, Arunraje. |
